Nintendo has had a pretty impressive E3 2010 by all accounts. The Nintendo 3DS is getting a lot of praise and the Wii is getting a rush of what looks like A-list titles in the coming year. We’ve assembled the highlights of the Nintendo E3 keynote below – prep your peepers for some video action!
Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
See Shigeru Miyamoto leaping around stage waving his wand in this live demo for the Wii’s next Zelda game. Miyamoto-san seems to be having the same sort of Wi-Fi induced troubles that plagued the Apple iPhone 4 launch last week, but soldiers on to show off what should be a surefire AAA title for the Wii.
Mario Sports Mix
The Italian plumber engages in a variety of sports in this demo – volleyball, hockey, basketball – all with that unmistakeable Mario twist: a cast of familiar characters and power-ups aplenty.
Goldeneye
One of the best-loved first person shooters ever is coming back to Nintendo. And it looks like a winning blend of the old and the new, with familiar levels and characters given a bit of 21st century sheen. For once, the US crowd’s whooping and hollering appears justified.
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Another Nintendo classic being revitalised for the Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns features the loveable ape and buddy (or is it son?) Diddy Kong swinging, barrel hopping and banana scoffing – just like old times. (Skip to 5.30 in the video to see Donkey Kong Country Returns.)
Nintendo 3DS
The Nintendo 3DS is possibly the highlight of Nintendo’s offerings at E3 2010, and here’s a bit of fun in the form of the first promo video. Watch Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata, Shigeru Miyamoto and Reggies Fils-Aime get sucked into a 3D world.
