We now know a lot more about the Microsoft Kinect motion controller than we did a few days ago, but one thing Microsoft hasn’t told the world is how much damage the Xbox 360 add-on is going to do to your wallet. So exactly what will the Kinect UK price be?

We could have a pretty good stab at guessing the Kinect UK price if we knew for certain how much it’s going to cost in the US. We do know it’s going on sale Stateside on 4 November, but the price has yet to be officially revealed. However, US retailer GameStop spilled (perhaps accidentally) some pre-order prices for Kinect, suggesting that it’ll cost $149.99 on its own – that’s about £102 at the current exchange rate.

If we add good old British VAT to that figure we end up with something very close to £120. A nice round figure and, from what we’ve seen of Kinect, we wouldn’t be too surprised if Microsoft does set that (or something very close) as the Kinect UK price.

But we can’t be sure, especially as Xbox 360 boss Aaron Greenberg recently tweeted to claim: “No Kinect price announced yet, retail price estimates are purely speculative, final price & pack-in details are not yet determined.”
We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears fully open for more on the Kinect UK price, so keep it here for more info in the coming weeks.

Retailers want to have preorders early but they hike the price because often they have a Pre-order price guarantee like Amazon. They don't want to be out of pocket if MS comes along with a price £20-£30 more than speculated!
Anyway, at that price I think I'll leave it. £70 tops

So much for the crap last year that it was gonna cost no more than $50.

  • Darren

Well I wont be paying £100+ for one. i thought it was going to be about £50 thats what they've been saying for the past year.

    • bensillis

I'm not keeping optimistic, as much as I'd like it to be that cheap too.

  • HENRY

I bet you guys it's going to be like £600 because of the amount of research they have put into it

  • Asdfghjkl

So much for the £50 price!

  • zac

I dont see the point in selling it at a higher price than the console(arcade) itself…

  • Dan

Will not pay any more than £50 for it…. at the end of the day the wii is very similar and i have a wii and a 360 so it is not worth getting the kinect for the 360 if it is a high price. I can use a controller and have enjoyed playing games that way for years lol Problem is for some the kinect is going to be a ' I have the latest accessory' buy. Like people selling thier elite for the new 'shiny' xbox which is the same just has built in wi-fi. The release of the new console was to get more cash and increase thier dropping sales seen as the Large banning last year did not have the desired effect. The hackers went deeper and hacked the internal software giving them free arcade games and dlc using a internal version of live to still play multiplayer now. Where before the ban people still bought the DLC and the arcade games.

Microsoft never stated the price was going to be £50 that was purely speculative released from “sources” through MCV. As for the product, well the proof is in the software and who it appeals to. If you look at comparative hardware past and present on paper it's not that expensive to sell at around £100. Examples such as Wii fit have done remarkably well and that device has much less limited scope. Sony's Move costs the same for more than one controller where Kinect can read at least two players simultaneously.
As I say the proof will be in the software on whether you want to cough up the dough and whether it appeals to you or not.

It is going to cost $140 in the US. I doubt very much it will be 600 fucking quid they'd never sell it whole point is its supposed to be for the whole family i say it'll be about £120 over here might even be cheaper :)

  • Guest

Yeah, I wouldn't pay more than £80 for it. Since I only paid £109 for my arcade + 4 games, theres no way I'd pay more than £80 for what is effectively just anew controller

  • Guest

well to be honest, i don't think much people will buy it if is higher then £100, because you will need to buy each kinect game around £40-£50. and with that amount of money i think people will just spend it on Wii (with better games for now). well at least I will.

and don't think they want to set the price for too high because the higher they set, the less people will buy kinect… they should able to put a good balance so everyone can get it.

my prediction is anything under £60 (price of a new limited edition game)

**off topic** i realise that u don't seem to get that much feeling into the game because ur just holding…air (no vibration unless they make another add-on that goes to your floor or sofa? lol). and it can be very tiring if your playing a driving game that last 2hours… ouch…lol
but it does seem fun on sport game tho =)

  • Gokupercy

i was talking to one of the workers at gamestation he said it will be £70

Should I get the new slim xbox for the kinect? I don't have an xbox at the moment but have a PS3. Xbox seems to be a lot more futureproof.

  • kinkyemo

Id say about £100 would be acceptable any more and its getting a bit steep

and just so people know you can use it with all xbox 360 variations as it comes with a cable for the older xbox 360s

  • sid

THIS COST TOO GOD DAMN MUCH MONEY.. ITS…*OVERPRICED*
