Sony has just shown off its PS3 exclusive shooter Killzone 3. In 3D! Guerilla Games just took to the E3 show floor to talk up the single player campaign and show off the new enemies we’ll soon be shooting up in anger.
We got to see a scene set in the northern arctic of Helghan. Guerilla Games man Herman Hulst said that players will have access to plenty of weapons and face tougher enemies than before. The crowd got asked to put on their 3D glasses before getting a full on glimpse of any icy level with jetpack equipped enemies. Killing them malfunctions their jetpack to send them whizzing into orbit like a balloon you’ve just let the air out of.
According to Sony earlier some of the levels will be up to ten times the size of those in Killzone 2, reinforcing the sheer scale of things this time around as we got to see. Players will even get to ride in a jetpack themselves as they take to the skies to explore the huge scale levels. Besides the odd set-piece in Killzone 2 the action was a little static. In Killzone 3 the addition of wearable jetpacks adds a new dimension to the action.
Another level saw our hero Sev aiming fire at multiple enemy strongholds while manning a minigun aboard a gunship of sorts in an airborne extravaganza of ammunition and explosions.
Killzone 3 will be available this coming February in 2011 on PlayStation 3. It will be fully compatible with PlayStation Move functionality at launch.
Out February 2011 | £TBC | PlayStation
