UPDATE: The iPhone 4 UK price is official, and the pre-order buttons by the side are now working too, we’ve confirmed. Go go go!

The iPhone 4 UK price has been revealed with Apple unveiling the cost of grabbing an unlocked iPhone 4 straight from the Apple Store. We’ll get contract prices from the iPhone 4 UK networks imminently but if you want a SIM-free phone it’ll set you back £499 for a 16GB iPhone 4 and £599 for the 32GB iPhone 4. Read on for more details…

As well as outing the iPhone 4 UK price for an unlocked phone, Apple has also revealed that you can now grab an 8GB iPhone 3GS unlocked for £419. We’re not sure why you would when an extra £80 will get you an iPhone 4 with twice the capacity.

If you’ve been tempted by the white iPhone 4, you’re out of luck. It’s not available in the iPhone 4 UK preorder. There’s a limit of two iPhone 4 handsets per person and if you’re planning on grabbing one, we’d head to the Apple site sharpish. They’ll be hitting doormat on June 24.

Let us know: are you planning on paying the iPhone 4 UK price for an unlocked handset? And if so what network are you going to take it to?

Out June 24 | From £499 | Apple

  • Rpang11

fck off £499 for 16gb and £599 for 32gb fcking stupid expensive or what and plus the white iphone 4 is not availiable yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not happy :L

ps fucking £25 for 1 bumper case, are you being serious!!!, i thought it was £25 for 6 or them

  • Ben

I'll probably pay th extra £100 for 32gb phone may join the 3 network on one of their simpliticy tarrif

  • Nathan

Will be buying the 32gb and staying on my old o2 1 month rolling simplicity plan with unlimited data and MMS included in my 1400 free txts. I will never go back onto contract unless they re introduce 12 month contracts and give more free data and free MMS again.

  • Disappointed Mikey

I would have paid that for a 64gb iphone 4. £599 for an iphone with the same capacity as the last one is nonsense, particularly as the iphone 4 has a hd (720p) video camera! The main draw for me is ipod touch with a phone, but 32gb is a no go.

  • dream-on

Guys – the 64gb is impossible at present. You need 22nm lithography tools at semiconductor foundries in order to manufacture a monobloc 64gb nand flash. Monobloc is mandatory as there is no more space on iPhone's motherboard. Those 22nm tools will not be operational at Samsung and at Toshiba before end-2010. Hence, no 64gb iPhone possible before 2011, end of story. Not Apple's choice or limitation or inability to deliver at all, no one is to blame in fact, this is simply how it is. Note that semiconductor fabs cost billions and are planned 2-5 years ahead – so even if Apple knew one year ahead that consumers would have liked a 64gb iPhone, and even if Apple were willing to spend 5bn on a fab (which would be madness), you STILL wouldn't have the hardware ready for a 64gb iPhone today.
It is interesting to note that consumers' impatience grows faster than Moore's law allows semiconductors to improve hardware performance metrics.

    Hi all,

To be honest the 16GB @£499 is in the same price range as most other top end smart phones although not sure why just another 16GB should cost an extra £100 that does seem a little steep as does £25 for a rubber bumper.

But seeing as Apple are now selling these Sim Free which i assume means they are unlocked at this price it does make the old iPhone tariffs look unreasonable compared to other smart phone costs and tariffs. I wonder if we are going to see a big shake up in the iPhone4 contract prices although the leaked Voda prices didn't look like it. If not why should the IPhone4 be more expensive then other smart phones that cost the same especially as they no longer have their unlimited data? which was the only thing that was different from normal smart phone tariffs and sort of justified the cost.

@ dream-on. Thanks for shedding more light on this, I seriously had my hopes for the 64 gb version to be announced rather soon. I had previously assumed (been non-technical here!) that since both Itouch and Ipad is available in 64gb, there is no reason the new iphone should be as well.

    Cheers.

Did you guys know that these phones take the mini sim? So you cant just transfer your existing sim card/tarif over? I spoke with Orange yesterday because I wanted to buy the iphone from apple and put my current sim card in it… it wont fit and Orange wont send me a mini sim, I have to take out a new “mini sim” contract which they wont release details of yet and they also wouldnt tell me if or when they would offer “sim only”

    • Kennyg

you can cut the card down, google search micro sim and it will show you i have one running in an ipad

  • Kennyg

blah blah blah, just make a 64gb or 128gb iphone…….. dont care about all the semi conductors or how hot it is in Cuba nor the price, make the iphone elite!!!

  • Mike

I'll be taking some scissors to my sim and staying with t-mobile. Anyone want to buy an immaculate 4 month old Bold 9700?

  • Couch 03

i will be in the UK in 2 weeks will an unlocked iphone 4 work in any country?

    • bensillis

Any country with 850, 900, 1900 (US) or 2100 MHz (UK) 3G. To be honest, finding an unlocked iPhone in the next fortnight will be the problem.

  • Couch 03

and can i walk into an apple store in london and buy one?

    • bensillis

Theoretically. But there probably won't be any stock for a few weeks.

  • Roya
