The iPhone 4 will go on sale with Tesco Mobile on launch day, 24 June, the operator has confirmed. We knew all five major networks would stock the handset from launch, but now the first MVNO to stock the iPhone 3GS will sell it too. Could we see some mixed up pricing as a result?
In a similarly worded statement to the one released by O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone and Three, Tesco Mobile confirmed that it will sell the iPhone 4 from 24 June. There’s no word of pre-orders, and tariffs are still missing from the Tesco Mobile site, but we expect them to appear sooner rather than later.
The announcement should perhaps come as no surprise: Tesco Mobile sold the iPhone 3GS while T-Mobile and Three were left standing on the sidelines. The mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) on O2′s network also offered some more unusual pricing systems for the iPhone 3GS, including 12 month tariffs, so we’re hopeful it can do the same for the iPhone 4.
That just leaves Virgin Media to proclaim dibs on the iPhone 4 now, and we know they’re in talks with Apple already…
Out 24 June | £TBC | Tesco
