UPDATE: An Orange spokesperson declined to comment on the Samsung Galaxy Apollo, beyond informing us that “more details on this announcement will be provided in due course.” Looks like this ad ran a wee bit early!
The Samsung Galaxy Apollo is a brand new Android phone for the UK that appears to have been slipped in stealthily while the turbo charged Galaxy S has been grabbing all the headlines. It’s an Orange exclusive, but sadly, it’s not the high flying M100S phone other sites have been reporting it as.
We’ve been busy awaiting the launch of the Android 2.1, Super AMOLED Samsung Galaxy S phone, so you can imagine our surprise this morning when we opened the paper to see an advert for the Samsung Galaxy Apollo, exclusive to Orange. It’s not clear why Sammy’s been keeping this one quiet, but we’ve got a request in the with the company and Orange and will update as soon as we hear back from either.
The advert reveals very little about the Samsung Galaxy Apollo (And nor does the “Coming Soon” pafe on Samsungmobiles.co.uk) but a quick glance over on Orange‘s coming soon page reveals that it sports a three megapixel camera and a 3.2 inch touchscreen, making it more than likely the Samsung Galaxy 3 phone spotted at Google I/O last month – rather than the M100S Android phone available in South Korea with Android 2.1 and a 3.7-inch screen.
That suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Apollo is almost certainly closer to the Samsung Galaxy Portal than Galaxy S in price bracket – we’ll be sure to update with more details as soon as we get them, but look for the Samsung Galaxy Apollo going on sale soon.
