Oh joy. Microsoft’s announced a new exclusivity deal with Activision which gives the Xbox 360 first dibs on map packs and DLC for all games into 2012. That means extra maps for Call Of Duty hit Microsoft’s console first, for the next three years.
Speaking at Microsoft’s E3 keynote in Los Angeles, senior vice president of interactive entertainment Don Matrick revealed that the deal stretches into 2012, so will presumably cover Call Of Duty games after Black Ops due later this year.
“When you plan to play Call Of Duty the next three years you’ll want to play it on Xbox 360,” he told an audience of industry members and journalists.
Truth be told, we’re a bit sick of pointless exclusivity deals, but if you prefer to pay any amount to get any and every Call Of Duty game and the full experience first, you’d better get an Xbox 360 to go with your PS3.
