OnLive is launching in the US next week, but we won’t be getting it on this side of the pond for some time. OnLive UK partner British Telecom says it hopes to have the on demand video games service up and running “by the end of 2011”.
Back in May BT announced that had bought a 2.6 percent stake of OnLive, and would be offering UK customers the chance to access it via BT Vision. BT apparently has the exclusive rights on offer OnLive in a bundle with broadband – but OnLive says the service will also be available to other ISP’s customers.
OnLive is getting its US launch at E3 next week, so we’ll finally get to see just how this cloud gaming service holds up. OnLive’s remote server farms will apparently handle the majority of the games’ graphical legwork, meaning you should be able to play high end games such as Crysis 2 on lower end machines.
