iMovie for iPhone, letting you edit HD video shot on the iPhone 4, has just been announced at WWDC in San Francisco. Mobile video editing just took an epochal leap forward: read on for the details.
While video editing was first introduced in iPhone OS 3 for the iPhone 3GS, it only allowed you to bring cut a clip shot in VGA resolution. iMovie for iPhone 4 however will let you cut up 720p footage, add transitions, titles and even music from iTunes, all with geotagging included.
No word yet but we’d expect iMovie for iPhone 4 to arrive with the iPhone 4 itself – fingers crossed that’s later this month. Whether or not iMovie for iPhone 4 will run with lower resolution clips on the iPhone 3GS is still to be confirmed.
