Guitar Hero 6, aka Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, is due to be formally announced at E3 next week – but we’ve just seen what appear to be the first shots of the game’s new guitar peripherals. And they’re quite different from previous plastic strummers – the bodies are completely swappable.

That’s because the new Guitar Hero 6 controllers have all the electronics gubbins crammed into the neck and fretboard. So you can basically just stick any body onto the neck and it’ll work.

Gizmodo have got their hands on a couple of shots, one of the basic body that’ll come with the game and the other of a Gamestop-exclusive design that’ll be available to gamers who pre-order Guitar Hero 6 from the US retailer.

There’ll be more available, and it seems that all will work on fretboards made for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii – so you can trade bodies between different versions of Guitar Hero 6.

We’ll bring you more on Guitar Hero 6 next week, when E3 kicks off.
