Half Life 2 for Mac is headed for Steam today and Valve has ditched a traditional press release in favour of a perfect parody of the classic Apple 1984 ad. Head on in for more details and to see Half Life 2 heroine Alex Vance hurling the iconic crowbar…
We’re just about done playing Portal on Steam for Mac so it’s good news that Half Life 2 is set to arrive on the gaming service today. Valve has yet to announced pricing but the Windows version will currently set you back £13.99 so expect to slap down a similar amount.
Valve had fun playing with classic Apple campaigns in its first Steam for Mac teaser ads and the Half Life 2 promo uses the same trick. The Apple 1984 ad was all about having a choice other than IBM, the Half Life 2 parody celebrates Steam making it to a platform other than PC. We can’t help but think that hardcore gamers won’t like the comparison though.
They may also want to point out that Half Life 2 arrived on PCs over five years ago, in November 2004, so users of Steam for Mac still have a long way to go before they catch up. At least Portal 2 is coming to PCs and Macs at the same time.
Let us know: Will you be grabbing Half Life 2 for your Mac? And what other games are you gagging to see make the jump from PC to Mac?
Out today | £TBC | Steam
