iPhone 4.0 video chat looks ever more certain to be revealed by Steve Jobs at WWDC 2010 in just under two weeks time. Sources in the know have spilled the beans about a forthcoming iPhone 4.0 ad while an excitable actress blurted out on Twitter that she’s off to an Apple audition today with Sam Mendes in the director’s chair. Something tells us she’s not getting the part…
A front-facing camera was spotted in the first iPhone 4.0 leak and the new iPhone revealed in Vietnam. Now Engadget is reporting that one of the first iPhone 4.0 ads will feature a mother and daughter having having a video chat. It also claims that the new iPhone is known within Apple as the Mammoth or N90.
The rumour of an iPhone 4.0 video chat ad in the works is made considerably more likely by a pair of indiscrete tweets. New York actress Vi Flaten has just 115 followers on Twitter but soon found herself rapidly retweeted when she indiscreetly revealed: “Audition tomorrow for a F***ing Apple commercial directed by Sam Mendes…” A California-based actor called Alfie also tweeted on Friday: “Off to an audition for Apple
”.
Though neither of the blabbing thesps mentions iPhone 4.0 directly, the timing is pretty convenient. Steve Jobs is due to unveil iPhone 4.0 at WWDC and the first commercials would most likely pop up soon after that. But why plop Sam Mendes in the director’s chair? Now the Mac vs PC ads are done, could Apple be getting arty?
Will you use video chat if Apple does reveal it in iPhone 4.0? And what do you think a Sam Mendes helmed Apple ad will be like? We’d love to see a video chat interrupted by the poetic meanderings of a plastic bag, American Beauty style…
