Rock Band 3 will be unveiled at E3 and before it does, MTV Games has bashed Activision for pumping out so many titles in the rival Guitar Hero franchise. Is it right to claim that Guitar Hero has lost its rhythm while Rock Band has stayed in tune? Read on for the latest installment in the Rock Band vs Guitar Hero battle of the fake plastic bands.
In the gap between Rock Band 2 and Rock Band 3, we’ve seen Guitar Hero: World Tour, Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero: Metallica, Guitar Hero: Van Halen, Guitar Hero: Smash Hits, Band Hero and DJ Hero. MTV Games has noticed that flurry of releases and decided to put the boot in.
MTV Games head honcho, Scott Guthrie, says: “At E3, you’ll see that Harmonix has spent two years on an engine upgrade and creating the next evolution of Rock Band. Unlike the other guy we haven’t been bringing a new game out every year…”
But Guthrie does remember to mention that Rock Band has hardly been quiet. Harmonix put out a little game called The Beatles: Rock Band and we only just got a first look at Green Day: Rock Band.
Is MTV Games right to claim that Rock Band has kept itself purer than Guitar Hero? And will you go out and grab Guitar Hero 6 or Rock Band 3? We think our living room may have too many plastic instruments in it already…
