The General Election 2010 comes to an end tonight and after weeks of the politicians angling for your attention, it’s the broadcasters turn to battle for your eyeballs. If you’re planning to plunge headfirst into tonight’s political punditry, here’s 5 ways to watch the General Election 2010 results whether you’re locked in your living room or heading out to a political party…
1 Watch in HD
Sky News HD starts broadcasting tonight from 6pm, so that’s one place you can see politicians praying for political survival in seriously sharp detail. But if you got Freeview HD or Virgin Media, you’ll also be able to watch hi-definition General Election results coverage on BBC HD and ITV 1 HD.
2 Feast on Freeview
As well as election coverage on BBC 1, ITV 1 and Channel 4 (where Charlie Brooker and comedy chums will be offering up Alternative General Election coverage), you can grab the general election results on Sky News and the BBC News Channel through standard Freeview. Freesat has all those channels too, except for Sky News.
3 Head online
Coverage will also be streamed online. You can watch Kay Burley et al streamed on the Sky News website. The Beeb’s election coverage from BBC One and the BBC News Channel will be streaming live via iPlayer and the BBC News website. ITV will be in on the action too with live streaming through ITV.com. If you prefer to listen to the results, you can also tune into BBC Five Live and Radio 4 through iPlayer.
4 Use your Xbox
If you’re an Xbox Live Gold account holder you get to Sky News for free through Xbox Live without needn’t to spend any cash on Sky Player. We’ve recommended this twice now in both our Leaders Debate pieces and yet we still suspect most of you opted to play Splinter Cell: Conviction instead.
5 Get the results on the go
Planning to actually leave your house and live your life while the politicians battle it out and the votes are counted? You can take the General Election results programmes with you! The Sky News app will stream the live coverage over 3G or WiFi on your iPhone. There’s also the Beebplayer app for tuning into the BBC coverage through 3G or Wi-Fi on your Android phone (you’ll need to be running Android 1.5 or over to make it work) and iPhone TVCatchup will do the same on the iPhone (or even the iPad) without the need for an app.
