The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 comes armed with a top notch 8.1 megapixel camera, but since it’s a seriously social smartphone, it doesn’t just stop at taking great photos. The Xperia X10 makes sharing all your snaps with friends a cinch too. So easy in fact, that you can do it in under a minute, making it ideal for a quick “Wish You Were Here” virtual postcard.
Speedy HSDPA and Wi-Fi connections, as well as Sony Ericsson’s unique Mediascape software, will have you popping reams of photos online in seconds for your friends to see. Now there’s no need to dawdle at the chemists for the prints to show your mates: we show you how to do it all with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 in under a minute.

Grab your shot
You don’t need to dive into any extra apps to share your holiday snaps with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, as sharing is built right into its super smart camera. Just hit the shutter button once to load the X10′s camera function, once more to take your shot, then tap the thumbnail of the pic you want to review. Because the phone has a turbo charged 1GHz processor inside, it’ll fly through all these actions in seconds.
Once you’re looking at a preview of you lounging by a landmark, you’ll see a little envelope icon. Give it a prod, and you’ll be able to send your shot anywhere you like online. You can send it as an email straight to the folks stuck in the office and rub the sun in their faces via a swift e-mail, or post your picture directly to Facebook, showing off your holiday to all your mates in one fell swoop.
Send pre-made piccies
Already taken enough holiday photos to stuff the Xperia X10′s 8GB microSD card to bursting? Then dive into Mediascape and see your holiday snaps. Tap one of them, then hit the infinity button to see others taken on the same date.
From here, you can cherry pick the best shots, tap into them, hit the envelope button and share them with anyone you like. If you’re uploading them to Facebook, you can choose which photo album to put them in. This way, your images will only be available to the people you’re already sharing those virtual photo books with, neatly dodging any privacy concerns.
Mark your favourites
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has some of the smartest image sorting skills available. You can pick a shot, hit the Infinity button and see others taken at the same time, or in the same place. But even that level of automatic sorting isn’t enough for the Xperia X10. Tap the star icon under any photo, and you’ll mark it as a favourite. These shots are instantly available from the Mediascape home screen, so you can find your best photos in an instant.
Mediascape will show your photos in neatly arranged rows of scrolling tiles, but it can also sort your snaps based on who’s in them too. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 uses face recognition to tag and match up mugs in shots.
Just dive into a photo of your friend, and hit the icon in the bottom left of the screen. You’ll be able to tell the X10 who’s in the photo, choosing names from your address book. From then on, if your friend wants copies of all the pictures you snapped of them on a sunbed, all you need to do is tap his or her name in a shot, or call up their name in your address book, and you’ll see a whole gallery of piccies including them, ready to be shared in an instant.
Don’t forget about video
There’s no need to restrict yourself to stills with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. That 8.1 megapixel camera sensor shoots video too, and Sony Ericsson has made it just as easy to stick clips online using YouTube. Simply record your video, tap the envelope icon, and select YouTube. You’ll be prompted to enter a few details which you’ll be able to reel off with the responsive keyboard on the large Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 screen, and then you can watch it upload in seconds. You only need to enter your login details once, making it just about the simplest way to share videos on the move.
