Looking for a HTC Desire on O2? You’ll have to hold on a few weeks more. Although the turbo charged Android 2.1 phone has been available in the UK for a month now, the network has been dragging its feet getting it on sale, and now it’s just officially confirmed that it won’t be hitting for a while yet still. What’s O2 doing?
The HTC Desire is already on sale on every other major UK network (Even Three and Virgin Mobile stock it) but O2 has been dallying with a release of its own. Now, the network has revealed that its late April launch date for the HTC desire has slipped to mid-May in a blog post.

The reason for the HTC Desire delay? “Unfortunately the testing we carry out to make sure the phone’s ready for launch has taken longer than we had hoped, meaning we won’t be able to launch it at the end of April like we originally planned.”
That’s a pity, especially since the HTC Desire we reviewed certainly doesn’t appear to have been rushed out early in any way. Still, a fortnight isn’t too long to go, and O2 promises to update the post with an exactt HTC Desire launch date when it’s satisfied.
