Android 2.2 (aka the delightfully tasty Froyo) is set to arrive in May, according to the latest rumours. And it looks like the Nexus One (freshly arrived on Vodafone) may be the first smartphone to benefit from the fired-up new firmware…

While phones like the HTC Legend, HTC Desire and T-Mobile Pulse Mini pack the creamy delights of Android 2.1 Eclair, others phones including HTC Hero are still in limbo running older versions of Android.

The Android obsessed folk at Android And Me say phones surfing the web using Android 2.2 have popped up in its web analytics which suggests the new OS is being actively tested.

Google’s conference for developers, Google I/O, takes place on May 19 and 20 at the Moscone Centre in San Francisco (frequent home of Apple events). It’s almost a dead cert that we’ll see Android 2.2 make its debut there.

The arrival of Android 2.2 on the Google Nexus One first would give it a boost in its battle against HTC Desire which shares its looks but has garnered much better press.

It’s OK for to play games with the older user of android G2 without any signs of getting update and keep them waiting.
I got G2 on T-Mobile UK and not happy at all for this waiting game for the last six monts and running on old 1.5, my older G1 has 1.6 and looks much better and works better.
It comes down to greed, they keep on bringing new phones with new software which is going to be same on all over. Why keeping buyers who got pgonje only few monts ago thinking what have they done wrong trusting to get stuck with this waiting game.
    come on google
