Another Steve Jobs email has emerged – sent before the whole iPhone 4G leak storm kicked off – and once again the Apple boss is gunning for Google. Read on to find out about Apple’s moral crusade to keep porn off the iPhone and Steve Jobs’s continuing belief that Android phones are handsets for filth finders.

Matthew Browning, a self-confessed Apple fan, emailed Steve Jobs after Apple rejected Pulitzer Prize-winning satirist Mark Fiore’s iPhone app. He also brought up the issue of Apple banning adult apps from the iTunes App Store concluding:

“Apple’s role isn’t moral police – Apple’s role is to design and produce really cool gadgets that do what the consumer wants them to do.”

Well, while we can all agree that Apple is about designing desirable tech, it seems Steve Jobs reckons the firm has a moral role too. After stating that banning Mark Fiore’s app was “a mistake”, he went on to defend Apple’s stance on adult apps with a dig at Google thrown in too:

“Fiore’s app will be in the store shortly. That was a mistake. However, we do believe we have a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone. Folks who want porn can buy and Android phone.”

It does seem Steve Jobs made a typo – he meant “an Android phone” not “and” – and while this email came from Apple Mail and not his iPhone we’ll forgive his clumsy fingers. He’s obviously a bit busy at the moment.

This isn’t the first time Steve Jobs has made a point of noting that Android phones let you download porn, he made sure to mention it during the iPhone OS 4.0 launch.  It’s just another front in Apple’s war on Google.

Is Apple right to censor the iPhone or would you just prefer stricter parental controls on the iTunes App Store? Let us know where you stand on Apple’s moral crusade in the comments.

Steve, if you have a moral obligation then why dont you ban porn on mac computers too?

    maybe that would hurt sales?

And get rid of web browsers for iPhone while you’re there! It’s a ludicrous claim to make, especially since there are iPhone web app porn stores.
