Nokia’s luxury arm Vertu has just released the first images of the Vertu Ascent X, the latest style-heavy handset to drop weightily into its range. Read on for specs and more.

According to Unwired View, the Vertu Ascent X will be a quad-band 3G phone with HSUPA connectivity, alongside Bluetooth, A-GPS, an email client, 32GB of internal storage, a 2-inch QVGA screen and (and this is apparently a first for Vertu) a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash.

Design-wise it looks similar to older Vertu Ascent models. It’s definitely a handsome piece of work, and almost certainly built like a Sherman tank – although we’d say it’s perhaps not as immediately eye-popping on the looks front as some cheaper smartphones. Price and availability are as yet unknown.
