Modern Warfare 3 is being delayed as a result of an ongoing legal barney between Activision and former Infinity Ward bosses, Jason West and Vince Zampella, according to court documents. Modern Warfare 2 was a massive success in the 5 months since it arrived but we could end up waiting a while for the sequel while Activision unpicks its legal woes.
In court documents, Activision complains that West and Zampella have plans to form a new studio and are “delaying pre-production of Modern Warfare 3” as part of their legal case.
Activision claims that its legal wrangling with the former Infinity Ward employees has meant it has had to “commit additional resources to Modern Warfare 3”.
While the legal worries of a pair of developers and a giant game maker don’t matter much to us, if you’re gunning to get your hands on Modern Warfare 3 sooner rather than later the consequences do.
It’s clear that Activision are still planning to get Modern Warfare 3 on the shelves as well as another Call of Duty game from Sledgehammer Games and Call of Duty 7: Black Ops aka Call of Duty: Vietnam still on the cards.
Which of the trio of future Call of Duty games would you most like to get your hands on? Or are have you moved on from Modern Warfare? Let us know.
