Remember the Logitech Squeezebox Touch? We were impressed by the fancy little touchscreen Sonos home music streaming alternative when we went hands on with it last year, but that’s been the problem: that was last year. Now though, Logitech has finally got the lil’ box on sale, so read on for the details and the all important pricetag.
We’ve confirmed with Logitech that the Logitech Squeezebox Touch has gone on sale this very day, priced up at £259 and ready to buy on the Logitech website right now. It works a little bit like a Sonos rig, though without the multi-room skills. Plug it it in with ethernet or connect over Wi-Fi, and you can use the Logitech Squeezebox Touch’s 4.3-inch touchscreen to control and access music stashed on your PC or on an SD card.
The Logitech Squeezebox Touch also stuffs in a few more extras, including Napster, and our favourite touch, Facebook and Flickr, so you can have it double up as a photo frame when you’re not selecting tunes. It’ll also play high quality FLAC files no problem, and can jump online to stream internet radio stations.
It’s a pity Logitech still hasn’t solved the issue of portability as it’d make much more sense away from the mains and acting as a remote itself, but if you’ve had your eyes on the Logitech Squeezebox Touch since October and want a cheaper solution to hook your home server up to your hi-fi, it can be yours starting…now.
