An iPad jailbreak was almost inevitable given the vast army of iPhone hackers turning their attention on Apple’s tablet but we didn’t expect it to happen within just a day of the US iPad launch. Read on to find out about the iPad jailbreak…

The charmingly named MuscleNerd, a member of the iPhone Dev Team, a group of veteran iPhone jailbreak creators, apparently used the Safari browser to get root access to the iPhone OS and jailbreak the iPad.

The iPhone jailbreak will allow users to do lots of things that Apple just won’t approve including installing iPad apps from outside to the iTunes App Store, adding battery battering features like iPad multi-tasking and customising the user interface.

Don’t expect to implement the  iPhone jailbreak yourself yet. It’s a little bit of a tricky process at the moment. But the iPhone Dev Team has previously released software to jailbreak the iPhone with a couple of clicks. Don’t be surprised if they bring out a simple iPad jailbreak solution soon.

It’s worth noting too that just with the iPhone jailbreak, any iPad jailbreak software that does emerge from the clever folk in the iPhone OS hacking underground could void your warranty or lead to that most terrifying of conditions – a bricked iPad.
