The LG LD950 3D TV that was announced for an August release date last month has been brought forward. It’s the latest twist in the saga of LG’s passive tech 3D TV, which was withdrawn from and then returned to its consumer line up, but the news is good this time: read on for when it hits.
If you’ll recall, we broke the news of the 47-inch LG LD950′s return to LG’s consumer line up in February after being briefly axed. It didn’t have a model number at the time, but it’s confirmed now along with HDMI 1.4, the new standard that allows for 3D sources like Blu-ray players to be plugged in.
That was absent from the LD920, which is being used in pubs up and down the land for Sky 3D, and its addition was the cause for the delay. But LG has now brought the launch date of the LG LD950 forward from August to May, to match its first 3D TV with active technology, the LG LX9900, and revealed that you’ll get four pairs of glasses bundled in for your troubles (And the passive tech means you should be able to get plenty more for pennies).
Result! It’s not often we hear about a lust worthy gadget being brought forward, but the LG LD950 3D TV might just be that. Now if we could just get some actual sources of 3D telly in the home, we’d be laughing.
Out May | £TBC | LG
