iPad news has come thick and fast from one man Apple news factory Stephen Fry today with iPad app screenshots and an iPad unboxing video already revealed. The Apple website says that iPad owners will need to download the iBooks app but a newly published conversation between Steve Jobs and Stephen Fry reveals they will get a free iBook.

In a long article for Time about a recent visit to Apple HQ, Stephen Fry recounts an hour spent with Steve Jobs and reveals that every iPad will come bundled with a free iBook featuring Winnie the Pooh.

While the adventures of the honey-obsessed bear might not be your first choice of free iBook, the reference in Fry’s article is the first we’ve heard about the iPad coming bundled with a free iBook though we discovered earlier this week that the free Project Gutenberg library may come to the iBooks Store.

The choice of Winnie the Pooh as the free iBook bundled with the iPad does make sense though. Steve Jobs is the biggest Disney shareholder and it holds the rights to Winnie the Pooh. The free iBook also has a starring role in the iBooks iPad video guided tour on the Apple website.

When the iBooks Store will arrive in the UK remains one of the iPad mysteries along with a iPad UK price. Let’s hope that once the hoopla of the US iPad launch is out of the way, Apple will get round to giving more details to UK iPad fans.
