The Android Market, Google’s online app store for Android smartphones, has been marred by the lack of a desktop web presence since launch in 2008. Now though, doubleTwist, the syncing software solution that looks ever so slightly like iTunes, has come through with a solution: you can use it to browse the Android Market and check out for reviews for apps on a big screen, straight from your computer.

If you’ve got an Android phone, we urge you to check out doubleTwist. It’s a free media syncing program for PC and Mac that lets you load up any smartphone automatically with your new tunes and video, with a layout almost identical to iTunes.

It’s now got even more essential with Android Market integration. Previously, you’d be left to hunt for apps on your phone’s small screen, since Google’s official Android Market website leaves quite a lot to be desired, but now you can view apps, screenshots and reviews from an Android Market tab in the left hand pane.

Admittedly, it’s not a true desktop Android Market solution: you’ll need to use the QR code to download through your phone still and it won’t store the apps you’ve actually paid for, but it’s certainly a start while Google sits and twiddles its thumbs.

The latest version of doubleTwist for Mac with Android Market access is available now, with the PC version receiving similar treatment in the next update, so watch out.
