The Samsung Galaxy Portal budget Android phone is already on sale in the UK, but Three’s now nabbed it with a nice little incentive thrown in: it gets Android 2.1 right out of the gate.
Like the original Samsung Galaxy, the Samsung Galaxy Portal originally launched on crusty old Android 1.5, but now Three has announced it’s beginning to ship the phone, which features a 3.2-inch touchscreen, GPS and Wi-Fi, with the Android 2.1 update.
The latest version of Android brings multiple Gmail account support, new UI features and a much better browsing experience, so it’s certainly a one up: as we told you first T-Mobile won’t bring the update for the Samsung Galaxy Portal until the end of May.

The Samsung Galaxy Portal is available on three in black or white, and on monthly two year tariffs with unlimited data, texts and 200 minutes from £20 per month. You can also pick up the Samsung Galaxy Portal with the latest version of Android on Pay As You Go for £199.99. That’s a lot more than the T-Mobile Pulse Mini, granted, but we much prefer the build and size, plus GPS. Care to hurry along with that update, T-Mob?
