iPad games that seem to have been approved in time for the US iPad launch next week have been leaked on through iTunes web previews. The list reveals some firm iPhone favourites reborn as iPad apps and that “HD” looks set to be the most popular tag for distinguishing iPad apps from their iPhone predecessors.

Apple briefly listed some iPad games in the iTunes web interface but it appears that was a mistake as they’ve now been pulled. But luckily, eagle-eyed Apple watchers grabbed a list of the iPad games.

The list is made up of iPhone games getting an iPad game upgrade – Flight Control HD, Ammoin HD (a puzzle game), Grind HD (a skateboarding game), Plants vs. Zombies HD (the insanely popular tower defence game), Worms HD (another classic puzzler that only hit the iPhone in January), Sparkle HD (another puzzle game) and NBA Hotshot HD (a basketball game that also only arrived on iPhone in January).

While all the games in that list used the “HD” suffix, PadGadget, the site that revealed the leaked list of iPad games, says its not an official Apple designation for iPad apps. Some developers are apparently opting for “XL” to distinguish their iPad apps from the iPhone versions.

Given that the list of apparently leaked iPad games is compromised entirely of new version of current iPhone apps, it seems likely that Apple is approving games that have already been successful on the store. What iPad games have you got your fingers crossed for?

So much hype about the ipad i hope its half as cool as the press. I must admit it will be fun to experience apps like fastmall and others on it. Hopefully mine comes in the next few weeks.
