The Nintendo 3DS only got official yesterday but rumours about the new 3D Nintendo DS are already rushing around. Sources in Japan suggest that the Nintendo 3DS will pack in motion control, vibration feedback and more. Read on for some early suggestions of the secrets the Nintendo 3DS will hold.
Nikkei reports that the Nintendo 3DS will feature a thumbstick for controlling characters and manipulating objects in 3D. It seems the Nintendo 3DS will also include rumble vibration feedback to let you know when you’re hit or attacked.
The report goes on to suggest that the Nintendo 3DS will feature seriously souped-up wireless speed and far better battery life. Following on from rumours back when we were speculating about a Nintendo DS2, it seems the Nintendo 3DS will pack in an accelerometer to allow for motion control in games.
While Nintendo’s release yesterday seemed to suggest that we will see the Nintendo 3DS in March 2011, Nikkei claims it will arrive sometime in the second half of 2010. We’d love that but it seems a little soon for Nintendo to introduce its brand new 3D-enabled Nintendo 3DS.
Elsewhere reports suggest that the screens used for the Nintendo 3DS will be Sharp 3D LCD panels which use a film covering and small differences between the images seen by your right and left eye to generate a 3D effect. It’s also been suggested that the Nintendo 3DS has already been shown to developers, a rumour we heard back when we were calling the device the Nintendo DS2.
Let us know what you think about Nintendo’s plans for 3D gaming with the Nintendo 3DS, Are you excited about the prospect of 3D-enabled, motion control rocking handheld gaming? Or are things like Natal and Playstation Move more exciting?
