The PlayStation Move motion sensing controllers are Sony’s big gamble against Natal, but if the original E3 demo left you wondering what all the fuss was about, have a look at this new video. There’s not a gimmicky mini game to be seen, just a sensational sample of the PlayStation Move’s accuracy and stunning depth perception as it’s used to juggle augmented reality windows around a screen.
While the PlayStation Move kit doesn’t go on sale until the tail end of the year, Sony staff made an appearance on the Engadget Show this weekend, to show off a little demo they claimed they mocked up in an evening.
We don’t care how many hours Sony put into this PlayStation Move though: regardless, it’s incredible. With the aid of two controllers, you can whip out windows with web pages or pictures and place them within a mirror image of your front room, resize them swiftly, move them backwards and forwards within the field, and even twist them around in 3D. It’s as swift and impressive as Tom Cruise’s vertical Surface computer from Minority Report, and it’s coming this year.
Natal slammed in PlayStation Move video
The demo also goes on to show the PlayStation Move controller being wielded like a flashlight to move forward and illuminate the windows from different angles, which opens up new avenues for gaming we’d never considered before. We love the idea of exploring a Resident Evil game this way, and we hope Capcom for one is paying attention.
Check out the PlayStation Move video below, and stay poised for plenty more gossip on it before launch.
