Nintendo dropped a bombshell today with the first official word of a true sequel to the DS, but that’s not all that went down in gadgetry this morning: read on for all the headlines condensed, right here in the lunchtime lowdown.

Nintendo has come clean with its plans to take on the iPad in portable gaming with word of its all new hardware, the Nintendo 3DS. It’ll run current DS games, but it’ll also boast a 3D screen, with no glasses required!

Otherwise, the news is in mobile right now: Opera has taken a deep breath and sent its Opera iPhone app in for approval from Apple, while Mozilla has shelved plans for its own Firefox browser on both Windows Mobile and Windows Phone 7 Series.

Finally, speaking of Windows Phone 7, Samsung could be priming four new phones which will run it, and the specs are nothing short of insane.
