The Alcatel Lucent My IC Phone isn’t the first landline phone we’ve seen with a touchscreen and a clever OS running atop it (Motorola has its own Android DECT phone), but it is the first with its own dedicated app store. It’s just been unveiled, along with an SDK for developers, so if you reckon “Smart DeskPhones” are the next big thing, now’s the time to jump aboard.

The Alcatel Lucent My IC Phone aims to create an entirely new category of “Smart DeskPhone” (Their words, not ours), and while the jury’s still out on whether they’ll ever take off, we certainly wouldn’t say no to a home phone with a Bluetooth handset, seven inch capacitive multitouch screen and USB ports, presumably to charge other phones.

The Alcatel Lucent My IC Phone will also let you check email, play MP3s and video (No, seriously), and will even have its own app store. The forthcoming Developer portal will provide a way for any keen coders to get on board and create and show off apps for the landline phone, which runs on a Linux build, and they’ll be made available through an application portal.

The Alcatel Lucent My IC Phone is expected to ship towards the end of the year, but should you sense this is somehow going to be bigger than the iPad, you’ll be able to access the developer portal later this Spring.
