Tiger Woods and the forthcoming game, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, had a starring role in this weekend’s South Park Season 14 premiere and it seems EA Sports isn’t happy. Reports claim that EA Sports may even sue the South Park producers for copyright infringement.
South Park put Tiger Woods at the heart of the “Sexual Healing” episode with Kenny and Cartman playing him and his wife Elin on the evening of the car crash which first brought the scandal to public attention.
EA Sports and Tiger Woods are mentioned frequently during the South Park episode. Kyle comments: “I didn’t know golf games were this cool”. Cartman replies: “Yeah, dude, EA Sports outdid themselves this time.”
The South Park episode showed Tiger Woods and his wife in a parody of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 with a side-scrolling beat ‘em up that looks like Street Fighter IV.
Elin’s pre-nup power up is particularly impressive but we’re sure EA Sports Tiger Woods Wii clubs won’t be used for a fighting mini-game.
The Daily Informer website claims a source at EA Sports contacted it to suggest that the game developers are considering a lawsuit.
The source said: “While I personally found the episode quite funny, there are definitely a few copyright infringements in [the South Park episode] that I’m sure will be dealt with accordingly.”
