We knew Sony Ericsson was planning more Walkman phones for release this year, and now a new report claims one will be a touchscreen musical blower. Is this the Sony Walkman X series phone we’ve longed for?
According to DigiTimes, Sony Ericsson is ramping up smartphone production for 2010, with feature and dumb phones to make just 10 to 20 percent of new models added to the line this year.

But, sources told the publication, Sony Ericsson feature and Walkman phones haven’t been forgotten: the phone peddler is reportedly planning to outsource the manufacturing of two new models this year. The second quarter will see the arrival of a new Sony Ericsson Walkman handset, while the the second half of the year will see the arrival of a new “touch-enabled” Sony Ericsson Walkman phone.
Sony Ericsson has launched touchscreen controlled Walkman phones before, but last year saw an absence of them. We’ve heard rumours of Sony and Sony Ericsson getting back to basics and focus on a PSP phone, and we’ve love to see it do the same with the Walkman brand. The W995 was a great phone, but a touchscreen Sony Ericsson Walkman phone with a smartphone OS could be even better. Bring it on.
