Sonic 4 has sparked lots of excitement with its promise of HD hedgehog thrills and Sega has revealed another glimpse of what the game holds in store. We’d previously seen a classic battle from Sonic The Hedgehog given the Sonic 4: Episode 1 gloss but now Sega’s revealed a whole stage – the Splash Hill Zone – and confirmed the return of Dr Robotnik.
Sonic 4: Episode 1 promises a return to Sonic’s retro gaming glory with a HD twist and the newly revealed Splash Hill Zone photos confirm that.
With a design that recalls the classic Green Hill Zone, the first Sonic 4: Episode 1 stage to break cover has all the classic level elements like the golden rings and head-turning spins plus what looks like some new power-ups.
The Sonic 4: Episode 1 screenshot we spotted previously with Dr Robotnik returning in his classic wrecking ball wielding incarnation seems to have been right on the money.
The Sonic 4 site now confirms the return of Robotnik but he’ll be working under his pseudonym (and frequently used name in Japanese versions of Sonic), Dr Eggman.
Along with the Sonic 4 photos, Sega has added the music from the Splash Hill Zone to the Sonic 4 site to download.
We also heard yesterday that a Sega Natal game will be revealed at E3 but after taking a peek at the Sonic 4 photos, we’re hoping its not Sonic. All that running and jumping would be too tiring for a stage, let alone a whole game.
After seeing the gorgeous graphics showcased in the Sonic 4 photos we’re really hoping the rumoured Sonic 4: Episode 1 iPhone app appears.
Sonic 4: Episode 1 iPad edition wouldn’t go amiss either. If Flight Control HD can do it, we’re certain Sega can too.
