Sky 3D, the continent’s first 3D TV channel, kicks off next month, Sky has confirmed. Starting with an epic Premier League clash, the channel will be shown in pubs up and down the land, and we’ve got the date you need right here for it.

Sky 3D will launch on 3 April, Sky has announced, with the first broadcast set to be Manchester United vs Chelsea. Sky says at least five more Premier League games will be shown on Sky 3D, live, before the end of the season, as well as the play-off finals at Wembley from the end of May.

Sky 3D Ready TV plans outed

Sky 3D won’t be available in the home just yet, but Sky says that more than a thousand pubs and clubs have signed up for the service, with more to come so you should be able to drop by a watering hole near you to see it in action.

Sky has yet to announce other broadcast content for Sky 3D, but promises a “range of movies, sport, documentaries, entertainment and arts content” from later this year, as well as a showreel of 3D footage running every day between games.

Will you be getting down your local for Sky 3D? Let us know what you think.
