The Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus second gen webOS smartphones are still US only, but the latest rumour on the digital grapevine tips them for a launch on O2 as soon as next month. Got a salt cellar to hand? Grab it and read on for what could be the word on the phones’ UK arrival.

Tech site Tracy And Matt received an intriguing tip this week, claiming that the Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus smartphones will come to European network O2, and go on sale as soon as next month, shortly after paid applications arrived on the European Palm App Catalog.

Palm Pre Plus: spruced up webOS for 2010

We’d chalk this off as mere wishful thinking were it not for the fact that the Palm Pre Plus has already been covertly certified in Germany, meaning a European model exists. We also reached out to both Palm and O2, which already carries the Palm Pre in the UK, for comment, but spokespeople for both declined to comment rather than deny the claim.

We’ll let you know if any solid details on a Palm Pre Plus launch in the UK turn up, but in the meantime, take solace in a European, GSM Palm Pixi captured on film here.
