Twitter boss, Evan Williams, announced a new service at SXSW – @anywhere will let you get at Twitter through other websites. The Twitter @anywhere feature is similar to Facebook Connect which lets you login to sites with your Facebook account.
Twitter @anywhere will link writers, topics and companies mentioned on sites with their Twitter profiles which will appear as pop-up contact cards. The new Twitter feature will also mean you can tweet from sites with @anywhere enabled rather than having to jump to a client like Tweetdeck or the Twitter web interface.
Twitter hasn’t given any clues on when Twitter @anywhere will be launched but it has revealed partnerships with a clutch of sites including Digg, eBay and Youtube.
Youtube already features Facebook Connect integration. Adding Twitter @anywhere to Youtube video pages would mean you’d be able to tweet about a clip straight from Youtube.
Williams said he could not predict the effects that Twitter @anywhere may have: “Like most things we build with Twitter, there’s a lot that can be done that we can’t even anticipate.”
While the Twitter @anywhere feature hasn’t launched yet, you can inevitably follow its progress via the @anywhere Twitter account.
