Is a Natal Self Defense motion sensing game in the works? One game studio has just filed for the trademark on this logo you see here, and while it doesn’t sound action packed, it could be just the sort of title to woo Wii Fit fans to Microsoft’s camera kit, or even the PlayStation Move. Read on for what we know so far.
Nottingham based developer Crytek UK has filed for a trademark around the logo you see here for “Self Defense”. While no other details are available right now, we can’t imagine a self-improvement title like that will offer much in the way of japes on an Xbox 360 or PS3 controller.
More feasible to us is the possibility that Self Defense is a motion control game in the same vein as the astronomically popular Wii Fit. That could work with the new PlayStation Move controllers, but it sounds absolutely perfect for Natal on the Xbox 360, since you won’t need to hold anything. We also know Natal kit is with developers already so that’s where we’re we’d put our money.
Natal boss bashes PlayStation Move
You might not have heard of Crytek UK before, but the studio has an illustrious heritage: it was previously known as Free Radical, and was responsible for the TimeSplitters first person shooter series of games before being snapped up by German giant Crytek last year. Even if Self Defense isn’t a Natal game, it signals a change of direction for the studio at any rate.
Crytek UK declined to comment for this article. We’ve contacted the German HQ about Self Defense and any potential Natal plans, and will update if we get any details.
