The iPad will be the go to place for all forms of media in future, Rupert Murdoch has declared in a new interview. Given that Murdoch happens to be the world’s biggest media mogul, we’re inclined to sit up and listen: read on for the video and what he had to say.
In an interview on the Fox Business channel, the tycoon turned once more to his favourite talking point of late: the iPad. While we heard him bigging up iPad apps earlier this month, this time he stressed how the Apple tablet and its rivals would be soon be the leading repository of all forms of multimedia.
“All media is going to go on to the iPad, whether it be music or books or newspapers or movies, you’ll be able to get on your iPad…they’ll get better and better and you’ll be able to do more tricks with it,” he said.
iPad apps: Murdoch “sold” on tablets
Murdoch also said that tablet rivals to the iPad would help the form factor go mainstream. “It’ll be pretty small to start with but you know there’ll be more iPads, there’s competition coming from people like Samsung and LG coming very quickly, Hewlett Packard in a matter of three or four months,” he said.
Given the raging pre-order success the iPad has proved, even if Murdoch didn’t own News Corp and Fox, it certainly looks like he might be right. That little global empire of his though might just prove the clincher. Skip to the good stuff at 1:40 in the video below, and let us know what you’re thoughts are on the iPad: will it be the trendsetter for media in the years to come?
