Nexus One lovers may have to wait a little longer for the Google smartphone to hit the UK on Vodafone. The Nexus One launch is now rumoured to be delayed until the middle of April. That will put the Nexus One head-to-head with the HTC Legend which hits Vodafone in April.

The April arrival of the HTC Legend means the Nexus One will face sharp competition from it for the affection of Android lovers searching for the newest and loveliest of Google phones.

HTC is a winner either way as it built the Nexus One for Google as well as crafting the smooth aluminum shell of the HTC Legend. Google on the other hand has had a number of niggling issues since the Nexus One launch.

Having previously relied on email for support queries, Google had to roll out telephone support lines for the Nexus One in the US with lots of customers expressing annoyance about the process.

In the UK, Google already sells the Nexus One unlocked via its website. The Nexus One on contract is set to appear through Vodafone with deals starting at £35 a month.

As well as competition from the HTC Legend on Vodafone, the Nexus One will go up against the HTC Desire. The HTC Desire is pretty much the spitting image of the Nexus One with a trackpad in place of a trackball and has been picked up by every network.

Which Android phone gets your vote – the Nexus One, the HTC Legend, HTC Desire or even the HTC Incredible? And if it’s not any of those, are you just keeping your fingers crossed until iPhone 4.0 arrives?

Due April | from £35/month | Vodafone
