Final Fantasy 13 has only just hit the shelves but there has already been plenty of Final Fantasy 13 sequel chatter. We told you last week about plans for a Final Fantasy 3D sequel but now there’s talk of Final Fantasy 13 part 2. Could you handle another portion of Final Fantasy 13?

The brains behind Final Fantasy 13, Yoshinori Kitase and Motomu Toriyama, have suggested that they have plans for a direct sequel to Final Fantasy 13. But the plan rests on just how well we like Final Fantasy 13.

Kitase says: “In the past three years we worked both on the world and on the various systems. Creating these systems isn’t very glamorous and can frankly be a bit boring. If we could do a [Final Fantasy] 13-2, we could direct all our attention to the story and refine what we have already built.”

    To be fair, I’m only a few hours in, but already I’d quite like a sequel not to be one LONG corridor. Also, I’d quite like the little chocobo to peck Hope savagely in the opening cut scene, as the moany kid really needs to get with the program.

      I’d love a continuation, but I suspect it won’t happen for a long time. Square’s already made clea that Final Fantasy 13 Versus has very little in common with it, except, er, crytals.

    I would definitely LOVE a sequel!! Finished this game recently and there is still plenty more potential story to be explored… hoping this actually happens!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Agreed – how about they explain what on earth happened to Fang and Vanille’s village? I’m not getting my hopes too high given the enormous development time and the fact that FF14 is already in beta.

    i dont mind them making a sequel to 13 but i rather prefer them not… i actually liked x-2 but there just something about weird/wrong about it… im not hating on it i just mean they could have made it better. Now if they do make it a 13-2 i hope its worth the effort and wait.

      I'd actually play 13-2 over 14 – I'm not interested in MMOs, even Final Fantasy ones. Despite some criticism, I really liked FF13, it's battle system and cinematics.

      me2 i hope the effort and wait will be well worth it but i dont doubt Nomura Tetsuya and Square Enix one bit when it comes to this game its the best in my opinion outta all the Final Fantasy series =D “HUZZAH”

    i'd definitely get it! they'd have to be careful to make those characters just as loveable and try to make the world interesting. it was big, two worlds, and yet i feel the ff10 had more bakground. 13-2 can be great if they take care of that and still do things with the characters like in the first one, maybe even more.

      me to I hope that they un-crystalize Fang and Vanille though get the gang back together…cause the legend was that they eventually wake up outta there crystal sleep.
      You know the whole final fantasy series had to do something about the crystals and in Final Fantasy 13 the story behind the crystal legend was superb!!!! =D Great Job Tetsuya Nomura <3

    I have been a fan of the Final Fantasy series for 15 years, and XIII was like an anniversary special for me, which i have found to be probably one of the better games in the series, possibily over FFX. So if the tenth installment gets a sequel, then FFXIII should definetely have one too! :D Theres SO much more depth to the characters that can be explored, and i believe that a sequel can do just that! Maybe have the characters reunite and the crystarium will expand to 13 stages, now that would be awesome!

      I'd happily play in that world again. FF13 was like Shen Mue, in that you could see it was a flawed masterpeice, but damn if you couldn't stop playing it still.

    The Crysterium was my 2nd favorite level up system right after the Sphere grid. I believe that you all should keep the crysterium for the sequal. My DM (dungeon master) has a Final Fantasy D20 game called FF Dimensions similar to Dissidia, except are characters travel to the diiferent worlds from FF1 through !3. My character Luka Leonheart has 3 mentors which are her father Squall Leonheart, Lightning, and Gensis.

    I think they should make a 13-2. I mean 13 sold over 6 million copies worldwide witch is a very good number in sales. It even broke over a million sales on xbox 360 proving that jrpg can become somewhat big on an american console. I think they spent to much time making the battle system's, both the worlds, getting the graphics as polished as they did and making them in true HD witch takes time. They already have 2 existing worlds to build upon an add new area's for the sequel, an already workable and good battle system(they could make a cpl improvments like switching characters in combat, and making the summons more useful in combat), and they have adapted to making the HD graphics meaning that wont take up as much time this time around. They could literally focus most of their time on the story, character development, expanding both worlds(making some open areas on cocoon) and they have a group of workable characters that would bring their end game personality changes(like hope's maturity increase he would not be a bitch through the 1st half of the game this time around), and if they wanted to they could throw in 2 or 3 new characters to play as to keep the story fresh and exiting and not just the same 6 characters again with no one new to learn about. I just want to know what would the story be? How and why would all the characters be banding together again. They need a good reason, and i think they need to make the reintroduction to all the characters as cool and memorable as possible.

    OF COURSE. They really should do it even if a lot of ppl said that it's a bad game. I swear that FF13 one of the GREATIST games. SE, Please make a sequel. The univers of FF13 is PERFECT. We want to see Lightning again. She's really something else. I know that the characters are not l'cie anymore, but there could be a new power that awakend their powers. Don't forget about the Edolons. I thing they are alive somewhere. It's like they call the old l'cie to help them with something.

    Square Enix. You don't have to think about this. I mean come on. It's FF13 we're talking about. Lightning is one of the most powerful characters in the games univers. She should come back with another story. It should be related to the 1st one of course. You know what? FF13 could have more than 2 parts. You should think about that. We really LOVE the characters. They are GREAT and deffirent than other FF games' characters. Something is deffirent about them. FF13 can't be the end. You designed them and you should be proud of them so please let us meet them again with another game. But this time we don't want to only press X button. I believe in you. I'll improve everything about the game. And please don't remove the Cyristarium thing cuz it's more than GREAT. You only need to add things and improve it. Don't focus on Sarah this time LOL… it's time for Lightning to have her story… a real story. We need to see jill Nabat. She can't be dead. Please do something about that. And yeah… We want to control Edolons more and they should be alive. I felt like they had no soul… just fighting without feeling anything. Don't change the battle system alot. you should learn from your mistakes. Changes not always good. Adding new things are good. We also don't like the fact that the battle is over when the leader is KOed!! And we want MONEY (Gil) after finishing the battles, PLEASE.

    YES,YES,YES!!! I WANT SEQUEL!! ; *( On XIII I'm all maxed out! I LOVED THIS GAME! The worlds were so perfectly created. When I finished XIII I wanted to know more, the ending was to short! I HOPE THEY MAKE A SEQUEL!!! HATERS STFU!!!

    I absoletely loved the game, it brought me to tears/joy, the charecters were awsome, and the story line was way perfect, I loved everthing about it, the grapics amasing how it was HD i mean wow!, I WANT MORE OF THIS GAME! I want to know What happens to vanille and fang it drives me mad, if they made a 2nd one I would travel to japan and get it even if i dont understand japanese, I could even wait in the us for it too, untill they put english translation. how ever long it is Im waiting and i want to bare more time on this game! >3 oh I want Vanille and fange to turn back.

    i'd love to see a part 2 i thought the fighting style was ace keep it the same and i thought the story was good but add winning gil at the end of a battle into it. ff13 left on a cliff hanger so u have to make a part 2

    13 wasn't that great at the beginning. Actually all of the game was a drag, and the story was … no so good. I played through it because the stragegy guide promised that the game didn't really start until you beat the story mode. It wasn't wrong. hunting after the marks (although they were a mere replicas of other beasts) was the only fun part about the game. I love the paradigm shifts, but only after I mastered all of the crystals. Collecting gil was the most tedious task. It was too hard to get, and hunting down Long Gui to end up empty handed, even with the special item to increase the chances, was a time consuming task. To attain the TREASURE HUNTER trophy became to adous so I dropped it.

    Do it!!!!! make another Final fantasy 13 =D.. but better gameplay. make it like the old final fantasys, going through different towns, and u can run around buying better items, instead of from the save points
