The iPad UK launch may have been pushed back to late next month, but Bundle Box has just come through with a way to nab one from the US on release, and pay no import duty in the process. Read on to find out how to get your iPad early!
Bundle Box makes the life of a gadget obsessive simpler by letting you ship imports from the US by way of a registered American address (Needed to order from Apple US), and it promises to make getting hold of an iPad early easy, and even cheap.
Because the iPad counts as an “automatic data processing machine” under customs rules, it’s import duty free, so you only pay shipping and VAT. That brings the total of the cheapest, Wi-Fi only 16GB iPad to £465.20. That’s not as cheap as some rumoured UK pricing we’ve been hearing (£389) admittedly, but still comes in cheaper than Play.com’s secret £499 iPad pricing. And what price is too high for the early adopter?
Apple has confirmed all iPad devices will be unlocked, but that’s no guarantee you won’t run into problems activating it with a UK iTunes account. That said, imported iPhones have always worked fine in the UK, from the first generation right the way to the latest iPhone 3GS, so you should be fine to import one through Bundle Box this way.
