UPDATE: We’ve got the pricing and shipping dates for the Sharp Freeview HD line. The Sharp TU-T2HR32 Freeview HD PVR is out in May for £289.99, while the TU-T2 Freeview HD receiver is out a month earlier for £179.99. The Sharp TU-T1UR Freeview PVR with USB recording is out in May for £99.99
The Sharp TU-T2HR32 is one of the first Freeview HD PVR boxes coming to market, and we’ve got all the specs and details on it right here. Should Humax and Samsung be worried?
So far, the only Freeview HD PVRs that have caught our eye are Humax’ upcoming recorder and efforts from Samsung and Toshiba. But the piano black, minimalist Sharp TU-T2HR32 should hold its own against them on launch: it’s got a 320GB hard drive, ethernet for updates and the ability to upscale standard definiton programming to full HD, plus an ethernet port.

The Sharp TU-T2HR32 has two Freeview HD tuners, but as well as watching one channel while recording another, you can also record two programmes while playing back another show already recorded. There’s also a USB port for software updates on the Sharp TU-T2HR32, but it can’t be used to load media.
Just below the Sharp TU-T2HR32 in the new line up is the Freeview HD Sharp TU-T2 box, which also upscales standard def shows, but lacks recording skills.
Finally, we’ve also got word of a Freeview+ PVR, the TU-T1R, which lacks Freeview HD skills but still packs twin tuners, and has three USB sockets which you can use to load your programmes on to a Flash memory stick and take with you.
We’re still chasing pricing and availability for the Sharp TU-T2HR32 Freeview HD box and co, but we’ll udpate as and when we get them.
