Google Street View has now been rolled out to cover the whole of the UK. Once restricted to the biggest cities, Google Street View can now be used to swoop – or snoop – in on any stretch of road in the country.
Google Street View launched in the UK last year, and has until now been updated to include 25 cities, as well as new zooming features to make navigation more accessible. Today though, Google Street View now covers almost every road in Britain, making viewable a total of more than 238,000 miles of road, or more than 96 percent coverage.

Those Google Street View drivers have sure been busy. We’ve been testing out the expanded Google Street View and it does appear to be total: every nook and cranny we’ve thrown at it is covered, including even the most obscure country lane dead ends.
The update to Google Street View isn’t likely to make any of the protest about privacy go away however, and given the EU has been keeping an eye on the service of late, and how often it recaptures images, we’ll be sure to keep you posted if Google hits any speed bumps on the way to one hundred percent coverage.
