UPDATE: Sony has contacted us to say that there is no partnership with ITV, and that the logo here is to demonstrate how it could work. We’ve asked ITV for its plans for on-demand, we’ll keep you posted!

The Sony Bravia Internet Video service for Sony’s web connected TVs is set to get ITV Player on-demand video, we can reveal. Catch up Corrie? Where do we sign? Read on for what we know so far.

The Sony Bravia Internet Video service is getting a big push in the UK this week, as it’s shipping on all Sony’s new TVs with Freeview HD built in. You’ll find widgets like YouTube loaded out of the box, but Sony’s going to add services over time too, including ITV Player.

Althought Sony has yet to make an official announcement about ITV Player on Sony Bravia Internet Video, we caught site of it on this Blu-ray player development kit today with it installed. A Sony rep confirmed ITV Player is indeed headed to Sony Bravia Internet Video TVs and Blu-ray players, but wouldn’t give us any more details or a demo of it in action.

Sony Bravia Freeview HD TVs out this week!

We did however grab a few useful dates for the diary about other on-demand services on Sony Bravia Internet Video. Demand Five will roll out on it in the second week of April, while BBC iPlayer will hit Sony Bravia Internet Video Blu-ray players at the end of the month – TVs will get it at a later date due to unspecified technical reasons.

We also asked about 4oD on Sony Bravia Internet Video, and while we didn’t get any solid answers, Sony proposition development manager Ed Uzzell told us “You can figure out who we’re talking to…We’d hope to have the majority of on-demand by Summer.” Read into that how you see fit, but it sounds promising to us.

We’ll let you know as and when ITV Player gets penciled in for Sony Bravia Internet Video.
