The Samsung WB2000 compact camera only slipped out at PMA in California last month, but we spied a mock up of the upcoming shooter with HD skills at Samsung‘s Spring launch last night. While we don’t normally care to play with dummies, this one stood out for an extra feature: analogue dials showing just how much fuel your digital camera has left!
Like the Samsung EX1 announced at the same time, the 10.2 megapixel Samsung WB2000 is a compact camera with a three inch AMOLED screen (represented by a sticker in this dummy sadly), and the ability to shoot in RAW, and when the Samsung WB2000 ships in May, it’ll also shoot 1080p video at 30 frames per second, or super slow-mo video at 1,000fps.
Samsung EX1 super pro compact camera revealed
Never mind that though, we’re absolutely in love with Samsung’s latest idea: sticking analogue dials on top of the Samsung WB2000 to give you a visual indication of how much battery and memory space you have left for shots. Samsung is a company often prone to gimmicks (Beat DJ, anyone?), but this one has old school charm and we hope it sticks.
Check out what it looks like in our Samsung WB2000 gallery here, and we’ll sure to bring you a proper hands-on when Sammy sees fit to ship the real thing.
