The MSI X-Slim X360 ultra thin laptop has just been made official, and while we’re pleased to see the computer peddler’s plopped the latest Intel chip inside it, it’s the epic battery life we’re excited about: it lasts a full nine hours per charge.

The MSI X-Slim series has been a tempting budget alternative to the MacBook Air since the line launched a year ago, and the MSI X-Slim X360 looks even more attractive. The 13-inch MSI X-Slim X360 is packing the latest Intel Core i5 processor, so you’ll see a speed up lift, along with up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 250/320/500GB hard drive and HDMI for hooking up to a high def telly.

The new chip and new tech in the MSI X-Slim X360 also allows for a much longer battery life away form the mains: MSI claims a full nine hours, and while we wouldn’t expect that sort of real life stamina if you plan on doing anything more than squinting at a dimly lit text document, it should see you through all but the longest of train journeys.

There’s no confirmation, but we’re also hopeful that the MSI X-Slim X360 will also fix one of our major problems with the range so far: the wobbly, bouncy keyboards as good for hosting kids’ parties as typing with.

We have no word yet on when the MSI X-Slim X360 will go on sale in the UK, but we’ve got a call in with MSI now so we’ll update if and when we get anything.
