iPad doesn’t support Flash, HP wants to remind you of that and has released an HP Slate video demo to hammer it home. Read on for more on the latest Adobe and HP attack on Apple’s Flash phobia. Can the HP Slate beat the iPad?

The iPad made its official TV debut with an iPad ad during the Oscars, now the HP Slate is fighting back with a video made in collaboration with Adobe. The main message – the HP Slate supports Flash, the iPad doesn’t.

HP’s Phil McKinney took to one of its official blogs to hammer home the message of the HP Slate video: “With this slate product, you’re getting a full web browsing experience in the palm of your hand. No watered-down internet, no sacrifices.”

McKinney’s words are pretty unambiguous, almost as harsh as the recent attack on Flash by Steve Jobs. The HP Slate is clearly gunning for the iPad and has been since Steve Ballmer revealed the prototype during the Microsoft CES keynote.

HP has yet to reveal pricing or a release date for the HP Slate but the video says it will be available this year. Supporting Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Air means that HP will be able to boast that the HP Slate supports the whole web.

The HP Slate video shows a version of Windows 7 with what appears to be an HP custom skin to give you larger touchscreen icons. The video also makes sure to show the New York Times reader, just like the iPad ad.

Take a look at the HP Slate video and let us know what you think. Does Flash support give the HP Slate the edge over Apple and the iPad?

Thanks a lot for the info and for the video especially. I think this HP Slate is not a bit worse than iPad, it might be even much better with its flash support. As far as I understand, this device is more like a laptop, cause it works on Windows 7, so it must allow multitasking, I wonder if it is so. Also I wonder if it has a camera — it would be great if it had. And maybe they shouldn`t make the design so alike iPad, why not add some physical buttons, and maybe keybord? I think it would help HP to beat Apple.
