It’s the news that iPhone-owning fans of fighting games have been waiting for: Tekken will be coming to Apple’s touchscreen-toting devices. Read on for the lowdown on the iPhone edition of Namco’s beat ‘em up classic.
Pocket Gamer claims an anonymous source “close to Namco” has informed them that Tekken for iPhone is nearing completion and that it “plays rather nicely”. The source hasn’t revealed whether the game is a brand new iPhone version or a touch-friendly edition of the well-received PSP version of Tekken 6, but Pocket Gamer speculates that the latter is more likely.
It was only a couple of weeks back that Capcom revealed Street Fighter IV would be coming to the iPhone and iPod touch, so it’s hardly surprising to see Tekken following its biggest rival onto Apple’s touchy devices.
