Sigma SD15 DSLR: hands-on photos!

The Sigma SD15 DSLR was revealed at the PMA tradeshow in California last month, but we just stumbled across it here in the UK locked away in a cabinet at the Focus On Imaging show in Birmingham. We pestered and pleaded for a hands-on, and a hands-on we got: read on to see the photos of this beautiful new shooter.

Sigma tends to concentrate more on lenses than camera bodies, but when it does venture into the latter, you can always count on something a bit special. The Sigma SD15 promises just that, with a 14 megapixel Foveon X3 image sensor, and although we couldn’t test this prototype out, you can already see it’s got the form factor nailed. The perfectly moulded Sigma SD15 body is a thing of beauty to behold, and we can’t wait to see what shots it’ll eventually churn out.

Sadly though, when the Sigma SD15 DSLR might actually be released is still uncertain: the company wouldn’t tell us, and it’s been toting it around tradeshows in one form or another since 2008.

Still, with the big launch at PMA last month, we should hopefully see a commercial release for the Sigma SD15D DSLR some time soon, so check it out here before hand in our hands-on gallery.
